I could drink Matcha Latte all day errrryday…  It’s seriously good for you, seriously addictive and seriously tasty! I’ve been posting a couple of pics on instagram of my Matcha Lattes and somebody was interested in finding out how to make a Matcha Latte so I’ve decided to share the way I make mine – it’s super quick and easy. It’s worth noting this isn’t necessarily the only way to make a Matcha Latte but this is the way I make it!

Firstly, if you’re reading this post it’s probably because you’re interested in the health benefits of a Matcha Latte so here is why Matcha powder is superior to normal green tea:

  • In a Matcha Latte you ingest the entire leaf and therefore receive 100% of the nutrients
  • Matcha powder has 137 times more antioxidants than regularly brewed green tea (say what!?)
  • One cup of matcha = 10 cups of regularly brewed green tea in terms of nutritional content (Are you gonna feel smug or what after drinking this… it’s like a cheat day except you’re healthily cheating!?)

Here are the nutritional health benefits:

  • It’s packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg
  • Boosts your metabolism so burns allll the calories (try drinking it before the gym for an extra calorie burning boost!)
  • Detoxifies effectively and naturally
  • Calms the mind and relaxes the body
  • Is rich in fibre, chlorophyll and vitamins
  • Is a mood booster and can help you concentrate
  • Contains vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
  • Helps to prevent disease (and is cancer fighting!)
  • Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar

So now we’ve got the nutrition covered, here’s what you’ll need to make your Matcha Latte (my way)…

Ingredients:

Matcha powder – I like Vita Matcha

Unsweetened almond milk – I like Rude Health

Whisk – I just use a normal cheap one but you could get a professional bamboo one

Bialetti Tutti Crema (which you can also use for making coffee/hot chocolate so it’s worth the investment!)

Method:

If you’re not used to the taste I’d start with 1 teaspoon of powder and put into a mug

Pour a tiny bit of boiled water over powder and mix into paste using whisk

Pour whisked green paste into Bialetti Tutti Crema

Put Bialetti Tutti Crema onto hob (without plunger) and gently heat until it’s reached 170 degrees celsius

Take off heat and push plunger up and down using the lever vigorously for 30 seconds

Voila, you should have a frothy looking green milky drink

Pour into your favourite mug and enjoy the creamy goodness!

It should look a little somethin’ like this…
