Welcoming Winter into your Wardrobe
With a change of season comes a change of style. I always think this goes the same for the environment you’re in. For me, I always interchange pieces of clothing depending on if I’m by the seaside, countryside or the city. So, in this blogpost, I’m sharing how to welcome winter into your wardrobe that’s equally wearable for both countryside casual and seaside snug…
Two things are of vital importance when welcoming winter into your wardrobe… and that’s footwear and outerwear. You need warm boots that are both stylish and snug (and that don’t suffocate your poor feet!) so that you can be both fashionable and practical.
My family has a cottage in Devon so I’m often in need of specific clothing for the seaside and countryside and for me, you can’t go wrong with Timberlands… They’re comfortable, durable… pretty industrial to be honest and they’re also timeless – like Taylor Swift would say, they never go out of style. You can walk on sand, slippery rocks, hilly cambers, anything! And they won’t fail you.
Next most important thing is outerwear. For me, wearing a long coat just isn’t practical when you’re running along the beach with your dog or hiking through woodland and fields. So, a hip length jacket is my preferred option. Now, if you’ve seen my edgy evening look blog post, you’ll notice I have a little love affair with aviator jackets, and I confess, I have one too many. However, the black leather jacket just wouldn’t go with where I was. London? Sure. Any city? Sure. But Sidmouth seaside town? No way hose. I needed one that was more casual, more relaxed, slouchy and warm, but equally as stylish. So, I searched long and far and I found it… at the perfect online place: Pretty Little Thing! As soon as I saw it, I fell in love. It was exactly what I had been looking for. It was a black bonded jacket (soft almost suedeish material on the outside, with fully lined faux brown shearling as well as on the collar and cuffs). This meant it would go perfectly in tandem with my black and brown boots. I’ve linked where you can get all the items I’m wearing below, as well as some Boohoo options for aviator jackets that are quite similar but varying colours and price!
Lastly, I wore some basic black high waisted leggings from New Look and a roll neck long sleeved back ribbed top from Topshop to keep that chic country look and be seaside snug.
I styled my hair in messy waves for that beachy vibe using the Nume iron, threw on some Prada sunglasses for some added glamour and hit the beach!
How are you welcoming winter into your wardrobe? Do you interchange your style depending on where you’re travelling to? I’d love to know so comment below!
